About This Game Inspired by chess, but adding combat that YOU control, Archon was the original Battle Chess. This is a great remake of the original. Love the storyline modes and love that you can play up to 4 players in teams or free for all. Very dissapointed that there is no online play of any sort, evrything has to be local.. I consider myself to be a "Retro-Technologist", meaning that I still have functional classic computer. I have a Commodore 64\/128, and my copy of Archon still works on it. I bought this game, and the classic mode is pretty much perfectly done. I have done side-by-side comparisons, and can notice no flaws in the Classic verion. Even that is well worth the $9.99 price tag! Add to that, the updated version, and you're really getting a bargain at that price.. The challenges of the campaigns are badly designed. AI never attacks the player so completing some missions within allowed number of turns is not possible. Otherwise, it's an ok remake of the original game, although I see no logic behind the movement speed determined for each battle.. Kind of fun.Basically you get a squarelike alternating chess-ish platform, where on you upon engaging an enemy, ends up on a flatground with rocks and battles your enemies using your arrows and attack keys.So both point and click with some thinking, and some battle that require some skills.But its still quite simple so its not that fun for long.. I still can't believe no one picked this up when it came out, a faithful remake of a fantastic multiplayer game!for those like myself who have enjoyed archon for years, online play is an amazing addition, and for everyone who missed this gem from the past : if you like the sound of turn based strategy mixed with furious action, check it out, it's cheap!. Just like the Commodore 64 version. Awesome!. Some classics should have stayed buried. This is one of them, Grounbreaking for it's time, fairly inane by now. If you loved the original stay away from this version. It will spoils your memories
